Meet Dr. Ezekiel “Zeke” Hartman
Quad Cities Pediatrics is delighted to announce that Dr. Ezekiel (Zeke) Hartman will be joining the team in July 2024. A native of Lanark, IL, Dr. Hartman brings a strong focus on pediatric medicine, with particular expertise in preventive care and childhood immunizations. His proactive approach to wellness ensures that every child achieves optimal physical health. Parents can rest easy knowing Dr. Hartman’s practice is grounded in evidence-based medicine and enhanced by his engaging patient interaction.
Dr. Hartman’s journey to pediatric excellence began at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, where he graduated in 2015 with a degree in Biology and a minor in Ethics. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois-Rockford in 2019 and completed his residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in 2022. Now board-certified and a proud American Academy of Pediatrics member, Dr. Hartman resides in Iowa with his wife, Jessica, their energetic 18-month-old baby, and their golden retriever, Stevie. The family enjoys outdoor adventures and walks, making the most of their time together in the fresh air.
With his blend of professional expertise and personable approach, Dr. Hartman is a perfect fit for Quad Cities Pediatrics. His commitment to comprehensive, compassionate care aligns seamlessly with the clinic’s mission. Welcome Dr. Destinee Schmitz
Arriving in July, Dr. Destinee Schmitz brings a wealth of expertise in adolescent medicine to Quad Cities Pediatrics. Hailing from Clinton, IA, Dr. Schmitz’s journey into pediatrics began with a deep-rooted passion for working with children, cultivated through various volunteer roles and her experience as a competitive gymnastics coach and choreographer. Completing her medical education at the University of Iowa, Dr. Schmitz’s dedication to pediatric care stems from her desire to help children lead their happiest and healthiest lives.
Dr. Schmitz’s love for the full spectrum of pediatrics, from newborns to young adults, is evident in her vibrant approach to patient care. Her specific interests include sports and nutrition, as well as the management of chronic conditions such as allergies, asthma, headaches, ADHD, and mental health. Outside of work, Dr. Schmitz enjoys spending quality time with her husband, two dogs, and cherished family and friends. From leisurely bookstore strolls to outdoor adventures and culinary explorations, Dr. Schmitz’s zest for life mirrors her dedication to providing exceptional care to the Quad Cities community.
Dr. Schmitz eagerly anticipates partnering with families and organizations dedicated to helping children excel in the Quad Cities. Her arrival signifies an exciting addition to the practice, where she looks forward to utilizing her expertise across all facets of pediatrics, including newborn care, urgent care, hospitalizations, and well visits. With her approachable demeanor and genuine passion for pediatric medicine, Dr. Schmitz is poised to positively impact the lives of children and families in the Quad Cities area.
Introducing Kathryn Hammer, ARNP
Set to join Quad Cities Pediatrics in August, Kathryn Hammer, ARNP, brings a wealth of expertise and a compassionate touch to pediatric nursing. Renowned for her exceptional clinical skills, particularly in managing acute pediatric conditions, Kathryn’s commitment to patient education and her ability to connect with families enrich the community-focused health services offered by the clinic.
Kathryn’s professional journey began with a BSN from Valparaiso University, leading her to embark on a diverse nursing career. From the general pediatrics floor at the University of Iowa to serving as a ‘jack of all trades’ at Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin, TX, Kathryn honed her skills across various pediatric specialties. Completing her MSN in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Texas at Austin, Kathryn has since dedicated herself to primary care, cherishing the unique opportunity to watch her patients and families grow.
Personally, Kathryn recently embraced the joys and challenges of parenthood with the recent arrival of her baby girl. Humbled and amazed by the journey of motherhood, Kathryn is confident that his new experience will shape her practice as a primary care provider, grounding her in the realities of family life. Looking ahead to her return to the Quad Cities, Kathryn eagerly anticipates being close to family and childhood friends, indulging in live music, cherished moments with loved ones, and basking in sunshine. With Kathryn Hammer’s arrival, Quad Cities Pediatrics is poised to provide even more comprehensive and compassionate care to the community.
